Brewed in Edinburgh by Caledonian with locally-produced Maritime malt (just the malt: no wheat, maize, rice or oats), using three different hops from three of the great brewing regions of Europe:
the Hallertau Hersbrucker hop from Bavaria (floral and fruity), the Saaz hop from the Czech Republic (earthy, spicy – peppery) and the Strisselspalt from France’s Alsace region (honey and mint).
Sampled on 03/03/2016
Clear, golden amber.
Herbal crusty French banquette with honey and mint aromas from the Strisselspalt hops.
Delicately spicy and citrusy with herbal bready notes and crushed mint leaves.
Lingering crushed mint leaves, piney hops and cracked black pepper spice.
Edinburgh's lager, like the city itself, is full of character with distinctive crushed mint flavours throughout and a cleansing, lightly black pepper spiced finish.
