Inspired by a cognac and coffee drink known as brûlot, apparently created by Count Antoine de Valeyrac, known as Hecsau. He fought on the American side during the War of Independence and changed his name to Hecsau to survive the French revolution before going on to serve in the Napoleonic Army.
After numerous injuries, Hecsau resumed the family wine business, exporting cognac to England.
