Made from the wine of Ugni Blanc grapes, 70% distilled using single column distillation and 30% double distillation. The grapes used by Maison Samalens come exclusively from Bas Armagnac (mostly from the grand Bas Armagnac), on the border between the Gers and Landes.

The eaux-de-vie used in the blend are aged a minimum 8 years in casks made of black Gascony oak.

Appearance:

Clear, deep golden amber.

Aroma:

New leather, sultana, figs, roasted almond, vanilla, brazil nuts, dried apricot, cedar wood and zesty tangerine orange.

Taste:

Christmas cake, sultana, passion fruit, brazil nuts, spicy oak and lavender with red apple.

Aftertaste:

Sultana, raisin, nutmeg and mild clove spice with faint lavender and red apple skin

Overall:

An easy, quaffable, value for money armagnac with good fruity character, lavender and red apple.
