Review and Tasting

Sampled on 10/06/2016

Appearance:

(sample bottle cask No.97/034-2 bottled 08/Mar/16) Clear, deep coppery golden amber.

Aroma:

Stewed and dried fruit, cigar leaf, light cinnamon spice, dark honey, faint pencil shaving-like woodiness and liquorice.

Taste:

Strangely light yet full-bodied. Baked apples, green apple peel, cinnamon spice, nutmeg and dry oak.

Aftertaste:

Dried and baked apple, cinnamon, cigar leaf, new leather and pencil shaving oak.

Overall:

Delightfully light – no boisé or sugar in here – perhaps the woodiness is tad raw and pencil shaving-like but this sits harmoniously with attractive baked apple and mild cinnamon spice. It’s not cognac, nor armagnac – it’s English and proudly different.
