Released in September 2012 as the first expression in Macallan's 1824 Series it is aged in 100% sherry seasoned oak casks and bottled with a natural golden hue attained without the addition of caramel colouring.

Alongside Gold, The 1824 Series will include three further expressions, Amber, Sienna and Ruby, to be launched in Spring 2013. Like Gold, the names both refer to naturally occurring minerals and metals as well as describing each whisky's hue.

Appearance:

Clear, burnished gold.

Aroma:

Pungent vanilla, fresh pressed apple juice and citrus zest with dark chocolate and subtle oakyness.

Taste:

Dry cinnamon and ginger toasty spiced oak, smoothed by vanilla and dark chocolate, freshened with apple, zesty lemon and orange.

Aftertaste:

Dry oak lingers with cinnamon spice.
