A single malt whiskey “aged and finished in various oak casks”. Its makers, Santa Fe Spirits say they use a “very different type of smoked malt utilized by no other distillery in the world.”

The casks are aged at 7,000 feet above sea level in the high desert in a climate-controlled warehouse “with temperatures ranging from freezing cold to swelteringly hot, and humidities ranging from bone dry to unbelievably damp.”[sic]

Review and Tasting


Sampled on 27/06/2015

Appearance:

(sample batch 4, bottle No. 1517) Clear, golden amber.

Aroma:

Toasty pencil shavings, earthy, charcoal and faint apple.

Taste:

Dry and spicy, young oak, baked apple, ripe banana and pear with cinnamon and black pepper spice.

Aftertaste:

Lingering dry oak, spicy black pepper and red apple.

Overall:

Exuberant, spicy and woody.
