Bacardi Softball Competition

London’s Finsbury Park Softball Fields was the venue for Bacardi’s (2014) third annual Classics Softball bartender tournament. The event pitched teams of London’s best bartenders against one another with competitors and spectators sustained by pulled pork baps, Hatuey ale and Bacardi rum.

The following teams participated in a knock-out tournament competing for a trip to Barcelona:
Hoxton Hellraisers - captained by Ali Burgess (owner of Happiness Forgets)
Soho Sinners - captained by Steven Tarr (Milk and Honey)
Portobello - captained by Jake Burger (owner Portobello Star)
Soho House - captained by Casey Sorenson (bar manager of Shoreditch House)
Kaboom - captained by David Cordoba (Bacardi global brand ambassador)
Hotel Warriors - captained by Tom Walker (American Bar at The Savoy)
London Cocktail Club - captained by Joey Medrington (Oxford Circus branch)
T&A - captained by Sophie Mackay (House of Wolf)

Round one saw the Soho Sinners, Portobello, T&A and Bacardi's own team Kaboom knocked out. The semi-finals saw the Hoxton Hellraisers continue their march to the final with an 18 - 8 win over Soho Hous. The Hotel Warriors and London Cocktail Club were very closely matched, until the Tom Walker led team hotels to a 11 - 9 win.

The Hoxton Hellraisers met the Hotel Warriors in the final with the east London Hellraisers, led by Ali Reynolds, holding their early 22 point lead to win.

Shervene Shahbazkhani, Bacardi UK Brand Ambassador, has announced that plans are being made for a UK versus USA tournament in 2015.
