Class Magazine and Diffordsguide Media Info

CLASS magazine and diffordsguide are published by Odd Firm of Sin - the name is an anagram of Simon Difford, who heads up the firm and heads a team of specialist drinks writers, bartenders, photographers, web developers and graphic and digital designers.

Established in 2001, diffordsguide is a brand of drink related guide books, mobile applications and the website you are currently reading 'the home of discerning drinkers'.

diffordsguide.com is free-to-access and aimed at 'discerning drinkers' world over - whatever side of the bar counter they stand on.

CLASS is an acronym of 'Cocktail Liqueur And Speciality Spirit' and that, along with reviews of the world's best bars, pretty much sums up the magazine's content - 'what to drink and where to drink it'. Launched by Simon in August 1997, CLASS magazine is the world's original magazine of its genre and the most influential.

CLASS magazine is published as a print edition in English four times a year. The weekly digital edition goes live at 3pm GMT every Tuesday afternoon on diffordsguide.com with international content in English. Translated editions with localised content are currently under development.

The free-to-access digital editions of CLASS magazine published on diffordsguide.com are aimed at 'discerning drinkers' but with content focused on the interests of high-end cocktail bartenders, spirits and cocktail enthusiasts. Each week, this free digital edition is viewed over 9,500 times, making this the world's No.1 online bartender's magazine (verified at Alexa.com).

The print edition of CLASS magazine is available by paid subscription only and is supported by around 2,000 paying subscribers (approx. 65 per cent UK). The subscriber base is predominantly bar managers and bartenders from high-end, cocktail-focused bars. Our print run is typically between 3,000 and 12,000 with the balance of circulation being by free distribution by brands with features within respective issues.

We also organise London Cocktail Week in October each year to promote cocktails, spirits and liqueurs in our capital city.

Terms & Conditions

Distilleries only featured as 'sponsored editorial’ and we agree to run such pieces if ‘sponsored editorial’ is just that, i.e. we (Odd Firm of Sin Ltd) retain full editorial control and our house-style is never compromised.

Naturally, we give the sponsor the opportunity to approve content before running pieces to ensure factual accuracy. However, we retain the right not to allow changes we consider contravene our editorial style or convictions. We have yet to experience this, but in such cases the sponsor may decide to withdraw sponsorship – the piece will not run and we will only bill for associated expenses. However, with proper up-front exchange of information and views, non-publication is highly unlikely.
