The old distillery houses world’s largest pot still with a capacity of 143,600 litres (31,600 gallons), in use up to 1975. It was in 1975 that the New Midleton distillery was built behind the old distillery to bring the production of the four merged Irish distilleries under the control of the newly formed Irish Distillers Company. The Old Midleton distillery is now the Jameson Heritage Centre, a museum with guided tours showing visitors how Irish Whiskey is made.
