The beautifully restored old Midleton Distillery is set across a 15 acre site (next to the modern day distillery) with some of the buildings dating back to 1795. The guided distillery tour follows the traditional Irish whisky production process, taking in old kilns, mills and maltings, water wheel and old maturation warehouses.
A short film sets the scene before the tour guides walk you through the old distillery, explaining how Irish whiskey is made and telling the Jameson Irish Whiskey story. Tours last one hour and end with a complimentary glass of Jameson Whiskey and a chance to take part in a tutored whiskey tasting comparing other styles of whisk(e)y from around the world.
The distillery boasts its own Jameson Bar serving Irish coffees and Jameson cocktails while the Malt House Restaurant is so popular with locals as well as visitors that we recommend you book well in advance of your visit. Packages combining lunch and tour are available. If visiting in the morning, stop by for coffee and freshly made scones or home-baked brown bread.
