Belvedere hails from the small town of Zyrardów in the Mazovian plains, 45km west of Warsaw and the ‘Żyrardów Polmos distillery where it is made was established in May 1910 by Dawid and Mejer Pines.
The vodka inside this Special Edition bottle is the same liquid as in standard Belvedere Vodka. It supports RED to raise proceeds for the Global Fund to fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. Fifty per cent of the profits from the vodka's sales in over fifty countries contribute to the Fund.
Like other Belvedere flavoured vodkas, Bloody Mary is made by steeping tomato, horseradish, black pepper, red pepper, chilli pepper, lemon and vinegar in the vodka, then redistilling separately and blending together. Unusually, Belvedere do not use off-the-shelf essences or flavourings.
Launched in 1996, Belvedere is widely regarded as the world’s first super premium vodka. It is named after Poland’s Presidential Palace in Warsaw and, like the building, translates as ‘beautiful to see’. It is made from 100% Polish Dańkowskie Złote rye and distilled using a four column process.
Pronounced ‘One-X’, made from a blend of 9 macerations (hence the IX name), 8 of which are redistilled in copper pot stills, before being blended together. The 9 botanicals used are cinnamon leaf, sweet almond, eucalyptus, açaï juice concentrate, black cherry, jasmine, ginseng, ginger and guarana.
Belvedere Citrus is flavoured with the distillates of three separate macerations of dried citrus peel: Spanish spring lemons, Spanish winter lemons (which are a little sharper and more citrusy) and Columbian limes which add length to the vodka’s finish.
Belvedere Orange is flavoured with the distillates of three separate macerations with dried peels of sweet oranges from southern Spain, Mandarin oranges from Morocco, Columbian limes and orange blossom water from Morocco.
Belvedere Black Raspberry is made using distilled macerations of fresh raspberries and French blackcurrants with French rose water. The raspberries used are hand-harvested from the Podlasie area of northeast Poland which is a mere thirty minute drive from the distillery in Zyrardów.
Flavoured with pink grapefruits, Spanish spring lemons and fresh ginger. Like other flavours in the Belvedere range, the base spirit is quadruple distilled in the brand’s Żyrardów Polmos distillery just outside Warsaw from Dańkowskie Złote rye.
Distilled using a four column process from fermented "Single Estate"-grown Dankowskie Diamond rye and, as the name suggests, is bottled without charcoal filtration. Belvedere Unfiltered is packaged in a glossy black bottle embellished with geld detailing.
