Review

Dubai is a city that loves acronyms: DIFC (Dubai International Financial Centre), JBH (Jumeirah Beach Hotel), JLT (Jumeirah Lake Towers), JBR (Jumeirah Beach Residence)... you get the picture. All new residents to Dubai are furnished with an acronym handbook so that they can try and keep up and not confuse taxi drivers. Ok, not really, but the point is, the acronym is often a sign of affection bestowed by Dubai residents upon a place they like. LPM (La Petite Maison) is one such place.

For some, La Petite Maison is a familiar establishment: the original restaurant is located in Nice and a sister restaurant in London. For Dubai, LPM has been a welcome addition and even though the food prices trend towards the eye-watering, the place is constantly full, which makes for a great atmosphere. LPM's piece-de-resistance is its long, pewter-wrapped lava-stone bar, which runs almost the entire length of the restaurant. The list has a good selection of classics, some with a delicious twist. We liked their improvisation on a Sazerac, made with bourbon-soaked raisins, and the deliciously Gallic Le Mans champagne/violet combination - like a sip of Mediterranean summer in a glass.
