Review

Every second basement entrance along Bath Street is some form of club or bar, the majority of them tacky with terrible drinks but Slouch is one of the exceptions.

Divided into two sections, a shabby chic dinning room and a pub-esque bar, the venue acts like a casual restaurant in the day and evening and evolves into a bar at night. There is informal seating and booths scattered around the bar, all dark leathers, a bean bag or two, stools and a painted fireplace. Behind the bar stacked rough wooden crates form the shelving for an impressive array of spirits, most notably a decent whisky collection - which every Scottish bar should have of course.

Several beers are on tap as well as craft bottle offerings, 41 in fact, but it's the cocktails that really distinguish Slouch from the rest of the street's bars. With 15 drinks on the menu the bar offers some well-balanced and tasty cocktails including a Whisky In The Jar; Heaven Hill bourbon combined with an Amaretto Sour, and a twist on a Long Island Ice Tea, Dr Feelgood.

It is however still a Glaswegian bar, so expect plenty of sweeter drinks, sharing jugs and of course the shooters.

All in all a lovely and relaxed venue, finally escaping the ridiculously overdressed nature of some bars in the city. Staff were friendly and prompt on service and with live music throughout the week the atmosphere is buzzing.
