Review

Not an out-and-out cocktail bar, but an al fresco-oriented bar and restaurant in a central London park location. The gastronomic equivalent of glamping, this Lincoln's Inn Field venue is arguably no more than a fancy shed, but its glass roof, large wooden beams, contemporary furniture, pizza oven and waiter-served outdoor terrace are a sign that park cafes are no longer an excuse for overpriced canteens where you queue to get your food on an orange plastic tray.

On the drinks menu, a rotating collection of just two cocktails, a Negroni and an Aperol Spritz on our visit, and an admirably simple choice, theoretically difficult to muck up. Here they are served basically, in utilitarian glassware, with no garnishes, but are otherwise balanced, and we've got no problem with such a short cocktail list when the drinks are perfectly fine. That said, it's fair to say the drinks offer is focused on wine, beer, cider, tea and coffee. Wood-fired pizzas are particularly tasty: think authentic Italian flavours of cured meats and soft cheese. Also available is a small selection of meaty main courses and healthy artisan salads.

Note that opening times are restricted to the park's opening times, so while it is open all day, it shuts at 7pm and from August 17th will close at 6.30pm.
