Review

The pub and the Canal Cafe Theatre above occupy an end of terrace in a line of grand residential houses, just across the road from the Regent's Canal in Little Venice.

Oak panelling, an open fire and ornate cornices confirm this to be an upmarket boozer with requisite gastro pub mismatched chairs and tables. The red lights over the bar date from the 70s when this place was a hangout for prostitutes. Today the Bridge House is homely and cosy attracting yummy mums, theatre goers and affluent young professionals.

Doom Bar, Landlord and Knight of the Carter regular cask ales sit on handpump alongside one changing guest ale. A diverse range of 15 bottled brews are joined by the likes of Sierra Nevada on draught with cider drinkers also well represented. The wine list runs to the likes of Cloudy Bay and Rothschild St Emilion Merlot with 13 wines by glass. The spirits and liqueur offering is also way above that of your average pub.

A regarded daily changing modern British menu offers the likes of salt and pepper squid, Devon crab on toast and white bait. With mains such as pork and chorizo burger, Gloucester old spot sausages with beer mustard mash and wild salmon fish cakes.
