Review

This elegant yet homely wine bar comes to London from the same team behind the hugely-successful Compagnie Des Vins Surnaturels in Paris. Incidentally it's also the same team from the Experimental Cocktail Club. With such an experienced and acclaimed management we approached the venue on the small and colourful Neal's Yard with high expectations.

There's no shabby-chic ECC vibe here, rather a stylish, small and dimly-lit room downstairs with patterned wall paper, low-slung couches and a bar running the side of the room. Upstairs it's much the same again, all very well put-together, giving off a simple but polished look. The team here bring around a wine menu, which is extensive, plus their food offering and after an informal chat with the sommelier you'll be lined up for whatever wine best suits your palate and occasion. No snobbery here, just a recommendation on flavour.

Food is not to be missed here either, with small plates of food including a range of cheeses and meats. What could be a potentially over-the-top posh venue is toned town by the music, post-8pm the beat increased and even the Top 40 could be heard amongst the chatter and clink of wine glasses. Helpful staff, beautiful wine and a lovely venue.
