Review

Basically a restaurant bar, but a good one. Part of restaurateur Will Ricker's stable, which also counts the Great Eastern Dining Rooms in Shoreditch and XO in Belsize Park among its members, the restaurant is a slick, contemporary joint with a minimalist interior, reflecting the eastern-influenced food. A fancy screen separates the bar from the restaurant.

Eight over Eight caters to a slightly older crowd - it's at the top end of the King's Road, just short of the World's End, and is a little quieter too, with less passing trade and tourists, being far from any Tube stop, so it's catering more to well-heeled locals.

The menu's divided into 'Contemporary and Classics', Champagne Cocktails and 'Luxury' drinks, which are £1.50 more than the standard, and more about shorter, manly drinks than the long and fruity contemporary and classic selection. All drinks are made with decent spirits. Even when it's busy, we find the drinks well-made, and efficiently too.
