Review

With two locations in the city, the other in Byres Road, Bar Soba is known primarily for its pan-Asian cuisine but it also boasts a good cocktail and spirit selection.

Tucked down a lane opposite a raucous pub, the top floor is neatly divided between bar and lounge area while downstairs it's clearly food only. The décor is simple and modern: a long wooden bar, green walls and plain black benches.

The lengthy cocktail menu, divided between Mojitos, Daiquiris, long, short, straight up and Yakuza serves, offers some real gems. We tried the Auch, Aye (Auchentoshan Threewood single malt whisky, Apricot liqueur, almond syrup, lime juice and Ruby port), and a Bramble - Bombay Sapphire gin and fresh lemon juice with Creme de Mure. Both were well-balanced drinks.

However if you are stopping by Bar Soba it would be criminal not to try the food - apart from being delicious it is also an absolute steal.

Soba is close to the central shopping area and true to its cafe bar vibe is a great place to break an afternoon credit card spanking with a tea or coffee. However, Soba really comes into its own after dark.
