Review

Sat among the plants and hanging baskets on the front terrace of this pretty pub, it’s easy to imagine you’re in a quaint country village, not opposite a police station in downtown Notting Hill.

The Ladbroke Arms rests on a back street away from the noise and traffic, and looks for the entire world like a little cottage pub. The theme continues inside with cream panelled walls and a plush dark green carpet. Tables, for both drinkers and diners, cram every last crevice but you’ll find the Hillbilly regulars and staff a friendly bunch so sharing with new friends only adds to the appeal. The place stretches back and there are many hidden alcoves so venture beyond the small front bar in search of a space on one of the comfy banquette seats.

Expect as many as four well-kept real ales and a good wine list, including eight by the glass. However, it’s the daily changing food menu that really excels.
