Review

The reopening of St Pancras a few years ago was accompanied by the launch of what was claimed to be the world's longest champagne bar. In reality, the bar is a small island that seats a handful of people, even if the space taken up by the venue's booths (the yardstick that owner Searcy apparently measured the bar by) stretches to 100 metres or so.

The first in a small chain of champagne bars from the group that now extends from Westfield to Paddington Station and One New Change shopping centre, the bar boasts a House of the Month amongst a list that includes bottles in varying sizes up to Nebuchadnezzar from more than 30 houses, with rare vintages fetching up to £880. Some 16 are available by the glass, and there's a small selection of classic champagne cocktails too - surely a good way to start a trip to France on Eurostar: the trains pull up behind glass walls adjacent to the long strip of booths, each of which is heated for those cold days when sitting in a cavernous train station would otherwise be freezing.
