Review

You have to love a roof-top pool bar with views over Marina Bay. While Lantern, set on top of The Fullerton Bay Hotel, is not the city's highest rooftop pool bar, it is certainly one of the prettiest.

Greenery softens the outdoor space, angular umbrellas create a poolside feel even by night, live bands play from time to time, and banquette set ups are perfect for lounging.

The short but well-formed drinks list is a nicely tailored blend of vintage and contemporary cocktails that should please both local and international palates. Drinks on offer include the Air Mail and Straits Sling, along with a list of Sours, while able bar staff are more than happy to knock out classics and contemporary classics on request.

Just don't be tempted to dive into the bay a hundred feet or so below. A British banker died after falling from here in April 2011.
