Review

Those familiar with the London cocktail scene will know that Roka has some serious cocktail cachet, not least through its past association with Tony Conigliaro.

There is so much light wood on the floor, walls and bar, that the interior resembles a sauna, with the windows of this first floor venue overlooking Canada Square with the surrounding HSBC and other banking skyscrapers towering around.

Visitors to the Fitrovia original will recognise the design cues and the large infusion jars filled with shochu - buy your own jar and it will be infused with fruit for you and your guests to have on your table when you visit. And in keeping with the theme, there is an excellent sake list and Japanese whiskies top the range of premium spirits available.

An imaginative cocktail list of signature concoctions tends towards the sweet side, with many served over crushed ice. Tony C is no longer associated with the group but the bartenders are happy to receive requests for classics if your tastes are more robust.
