Practically next door to the Havana Club Museum is Dos Hermanos, which translates as 'two brothers'. It's a long, narrow space that's filled with life - from the requisite live band to cheerful bartenders and Cuban customers - the latter in sharp contrast to the museum bar down the road.
Black and white photos of Havana's past adorn the walls - including a picture of Fidel and Ernest Hemingway that's fast becoming a familiar sight as we make our way about town. Windows with wooden blinds are thrown open to let light and the sea breeze in, and a fan blows air lazily across the long, polished bar that's practically the length of the venue. Sit on simple wooden furniture - some dodgy 1980s-looking light fittings don't spoil the old-time feel.
The drinks seem to be made with greater care here - and certainly more flair and theatre - and with better quality ingredients and garnishes. Despite some branded support from Johnnie Walker (large decorative bottles around the place and branded barware) we stick to the home-grown stuff and the two brothers pass the Daiquiri test with a decent balanced drink.
