Review

Built in 1835, Holiday Cocktail Lounge is something of an historic bar. The old place closed in 2012 but early in 2015 it was rescued and reopened after Robert Ehrlich, the snack food mogul bought the building. The original seventies feel has been retained with brown concertina-like panelled walls, each panel surrounded by an aluminium strip. The original horseshoe bar counter, topped by tassel edged awning juts out into the centre of the room and an exotic mural from an earlier incarnation as a burlesque cabaret lounge has also been saved. For older regulars a visit here is a trip down memory lane.

While the interior is old the cocktail offering has been brought bang up to date. That said the Holiday cocktail remembers the practices of one of the original bartenders who would serve drinks such as a G&T with the gin poured into the glass and a bottle of tonic water on the side. Hence this cocktail (with vodka, amaro and lemon juice) is served with sparkling wine, cider or pilser served separately. You choose which lengthener and then combine to finish your drink.
