With its scavenged furnishings, Victorian mahogany panelling, sanded brickworks, piano and dramatic red velvet curtains, this converted Greek restaurant feels like a neighbourhood bar with a whole lot more to offer Darlinghurst's hipsters.
Such as? Well, gigs from up-and-coming local bands on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Sundays. Craft brews including White Rabbit. A decent selection of wines. And a short, but perfectly formed cocktail list aimed at grownups, but featuring crowd-pleasing classics such as the Clover Club.
It's been a while since the Michelada, that fabulous Mexican blend of beer with lime and spices, appeared on menus anywhere. It's on this one. As is the Rattlesnake (Makers, Campari and Rosso Antica served up with orange bitters), one of the more worthwhile twists on a classic I've had in a long time, created (in this bar, at least) by the man the city knows as Relic.
