Knee High Stocking Company

'Hold-up' or 'Fishnet Stocking' would have been more alluring names for this tiny speakeasy-style cocktail bar but 'Knee High' as it tends to be known is certainly memorable.

If you're planning to visit, firstly you'll need to make a reservation by text messaging your name and how many to +1 206 979 7049. They start confirming appointments at 5pm. Even if it's gone 10:30pm and you fancy a nightcap, then it is still worth texting. If they text back saying there's space, you're in.

Having made your reservation you'll need to locate this well hidden speakeasy. The name is only displayed on a small plaque outside and Knee High is housed in the most unassuming building. Look for a door at the very tip of a wedge-shaped house where East Olive Place meets East Olive Way.

Its tiny inside with space only for around 30 people - eight of which housed in an intimate antechamber, removed from the action around the small bar counter. Cocktails on the lengthily menu are either classic or classically styled and very well crafted. Food is limited to "small plates and entrees" but they are served pretty much up to closing time.
