Bottled in 2010 and blended by Ichiro Akuto, this is a blend of malts from the former Hanyu Distillery and Ichiro's new Chichibu Distillery - hence the 'Double Distilleries' name. All the malts used were either entirely aged or finished in Japanese wood casks.
Sampled on 28/09/2011
Clear, bright light golden amber.
(hydrated to approx. 40%) Linseed oily pencil shavings with vanillin, carbolic soap, floral honeysuckle and nashi pear aromas.
Voluptuous malty palate awash with dry spicy old wardrobe varnished oak. Indian spice and bone dry slightly smoky oak with sweet liquorice.
Slightly smoky, delicately woody (cedar), elegantly spiced with lingering liquorice.
