Pronounced 'Pot-Ot-Ski', this vodka is double distilled in Poland from rye to Jan-Roman Potocki's exacting specifications. It is not charcoal filtered and has no added sugars or other additives.

This vodka is a mark of one man's fight for the memory of his family. Jan-Roman Potocki, an ex-banker, is a direct descendent of one of Poland's once most aristocratic families who lost their lands and assets twice. Once in 1917 during the Russian Revolution and again in 1944 when the Soviet armies forced the Potockis to leave the country.

The Potocki family originally rose to prominence through military prowess at the service of Polish Kings and from the 15th century they successfully defended what's now called the Ukraine from invading Russians, Tartars, Cossacks and Turks. Their two-and-a-half cross, the 'Pilawa', was originally a battlefield standard and now proudly graces Potocki Wódka bottles. It can also still be seen on the Potocki Palace in Warsaw, now a museum.

The Potocki estates at Łańcut (pronounced 'Wine-Suit') in southern Poland were visited by eminent guests, including the Hapsburg Emperor, and were famed for horse breeding and hunting. Jan-Roman Potocki's great grandfather was a keen hunter and it is his hunting diary signature that is today embossed on the side of every bottle of Potocki Wódka.

The Potocki estate at Łańcut was also renowned for its distillery, which produced vodka and liqueurs. Established in 1784, this was Poland's second oldest distillery, missing out on being the oldest by just two years. Jan-Roman has revitalised an old family vodka recipe from this distillery to produce today's Potocki Wódka.

Jan-Roman has also gone to considerable time and expense in the presentation of his vodka. Italian bottles are hand-filled and hand-labelled with labels printed by a specialist in Bordeaux, and finished with capsules from Spain.
