A blend of 35% Merlot, 35% Cabernet Sauvignon and 30% Cabernet Franc, this wine is named after the 58 guineas Sir Robert Walpole (First Lord of the Treasury) reportedly paid in 1713 to smuggle twenty hogsheads of claret into Britain, where London's wealthy elite highly prized it.
Made from grapes grown on clay/limestone hillsides, vinified in temperature-controlled stainless tanks for about 15 days with a 7-day maceration.
A good value, unoaked claret with cedarwood, balancing acidity and the classic Bordeaux notes of plum, black cherry and blackcurrant.
