At 2,029 grams per hectolitre of aromatic intensity, this is the highest ester rum commercially released. Planteray Hogo Monsta is a concentrated flavour bomb designed for use by the spoonful to enhance cocktails, particularly fruit-forward cocktails that overwhelm lesser rums.

This high-ester rum has long been produced at Stade's West Indies Rum Distillery in Barbados, but has previously been sold only to perfume houses and other rum producers as a flavour enhancer for their products.

"Hogo" is an Anglicisation of the French term haut goût (meaning "high taste"), used to refer to gamey, savoury and pungent aromas. Hogo is also used in the rum industry for high-ester rums.
"Monsta" refers to this rum's "monster" concentration of aromatic compounds.

Launched in October 2025 in a 20cl bottle, only 5,000 bottles were released.
