Introduced in 2000, this revered ten-year-old Islay whisky is one of the peatiest and smokiest single malts but is made less challenging by its natural sweetness. Bottled without chill-filtration.
Sampled on 15/12/2011
Clear, pale golden.
Peaty, citrus, waxy nose with lime zest, coal tar soap, graphite, vegetal and grilled pineapple aromas.
Monster smoky, peaty, salty, almost barbeque charcoal palate, made more approachable by sweet liquorice and faint vanilla.
Barley water flavours struggle for attention in the long tar influenced smoky, salty finish.
