The third batch of The Balvenie 12 year old ‘Signature’ releases (April 2010), first created in 2008 by David Stewart to mark his 45th year in the whisky industry. Each release in The Balvenie Signature 12 Year Old series is limited and produced in small, numbered batches.
The Balvenie Signature 12 year old is blended using three of the most traditional cask types: first fill ex-American whiskey, refill ex-American whiskey and ex-sherry casks. The sherry butts give the whisky rich fruit and spice; the first fill barrels yield subtle honeyed vanilla oak while the refill casks impart delicate, sweet notes and smoothness.
