The tequilas used in this 100% agave añjeo tequila are aged for a minimum of 12 months in new toasted French Limousin oak casks using the Selección Suave aging process.

In 1858, Lazaro Gallardo, a tavern owner and tequila producer, started using an ageing process which has since become known as Selección Suave. Literally translating as 'soft selection' this involves blending young tequilas with well-aged tequilas. In 1895, Lazaro Gallardo named his tequila Gran Centenario to commemorate approaching turn of the new century.

In 1920, Lazaro's son, Luciano started bottling Gran Centenario, which up to that time had only been sold from the cask in the family's tavern. Inspired by the Art Deco style of architecture, he designed a bottle similar to the one still used to this day.
