Review and Tasting
Sampled on 25/04/2016
Appearance:
(sample bottle new label introduced 2016) Clear, deep bronze-amber with burnished copper highlights.
Aroma:
Mocha coffee, new leather, sultanas and blackened fruitcake with vanilla, toasty almond, light cinnamon and nutmeg spice.
Taste:
Medium to full-bodied. Slightly sweet, vanilla, mocha coffee, caramel, tobacco leaves, dry oak and zesty orange with fresh passion fruit stored in a plastic food box (in good way).
Aftertaste:
Mocha coffee, orange zest, vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon spice with almond butter.
Overall:
Over the 16 years I've being sampling 1824 it has steadily improved and this 2016 blend is the best yet. Mocha coffee leads with vanilla, nutmeg and cinnamon spice. Faint zesty orange, sultana and blackened fruitcake.
