This mango and black pepper flavour was launched in August 2007 at Tales of the Cocktail, the annual bartender's celebration of the cocktail in New Orleans. 100% profits went to various Gulf Coast charities. At the time the area was still recovering from the 2005 devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
In the late 1980s, Absolut launched its "Cities" advertising campaign, with a series of print ads themed around iconic cities. Almost 20 years later, the brand revisited the concept but this time with limited edition flavoured vodkas accompanying the advertisements. The first, Absolut New Orleans, went on sale in August to commemorate the second anniversary of Hurricane Katrina. The accompanying "In An Absolut World" advertisement depicted a stream of relief trucks bringing aid to the people of New Orleans, while families move back to the city.
Black pepper and mango flavoured, Absolut New Orleans is made from all natural ingredients with no added sweetening. The bottle features a brass harmonica branded "L.O. Smith Trio" in tribute to Lars Olsson Smith, the founder of Absolut. This clear bottled flavoured line extension marks a departure from Absolut's flavours previously always being presented in a part frosted bottle.

Clear, transparent.
Like nosing a bag of pick 'n' mix sweets.
While fruity, the aggressive palate lacks fresh fruit flavour, tasting more like a tropical fruit mix than mango.
Pepper notes grow in strength to dominate the long, dry finish.
