Appearances can be deceptive and although Diplomatico Blanco Reserva is crystal clear thanks to charcoal filtration, it is actually a blend of rums aged between two and six years. Indeed Venezuelan law dictates that the youngest component must have been aged for at least two years.

Launched in 2009, the rums used are a 50/50 combination of two-year-old light column distilled rums and six-year-old heavy copper pot still rums.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 20/01/2011

Appearance:

Transparent and clear.

Aroma:

Reminiscent of freshly buttered white toast with vanilla, dried coconut flesh, dried sweet banana and faint freshly ground coffee.

Taste:

The ever-so-slightly sweet cream soda vanilla palate has an almost creamy mouth feel with sweet potato, coconut and mocha coffee flavours.

Aftertaste:

Toffee, milky chocolate, vanilla and radish finish.

Overall:

As white rums go this is surprisingly full bodied.
