This multi-award winning dark ale was the original beer William Robinson launched his new brewery with back in 1838. Now one of Britain's largest regional brewers, it is the fifth and sixth generations of the family and boasts a 400 strong pub estate.

Clear, dark mahogany brown with beige head which subsides to thin layer of firm.
Whiff of alcohol on a roasted malt and caramel nose with aromas reminiscent of blackcurrant cough sweets.
Bitter, liquorice and boiled sweet palate with noticeable alcohol bite.
Boiled sweet finish.
