Square One Organic Spirits was founded in 2006 by Alison Evanow. She describes this extension to her popular vodka brand as a "botanical organic spirit."

Square One Botanical uses a base of 100 per cent organic American rye neutral spirit derived from a single, four-column continuous distillation with carbon filtration. This is cold compounded with the essence of eight organic botanicals: pear, rose, camomile, lemon verbena, lavender, rosemary, coriander and citrus peel. Six of these botanicals are individually distilled using Square One's organic grain neutral spirit and two are water-based distillates. The product is hydrated with water drawn from the nearby Snake River watershed of the Teton mountain range in Wyoming.

This product's green credentials extend to the packaging. The face label is made from a paper free blend of bamboo pulp, sugar cane and cotton while the side label is made from clear corn based transparent film. Other labels use partially recycled content and soy inks and, as the press release points out, "the labels are removable for bottle re-purposing before recycling".
