Adler Gin, which incidentally translates from German as 'Eagle Gin', hence the illustration on the label, is based on a wheat distillate which is redistilled with the flavouring botanicals using vacuum distillation at temperatures below 80°C.

The resulting distillate is then rested for a minimum of three months in earthenware vessels.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 11/03/2012

Appearance:

Translucent but with slight sediment in suspension.

Aroma:

Strong green cardamom immediately apparent with juniper and gingery coriander close behind.

Taste:

Robust palate where initial juniper hit is quickly chased by pleasing cardamom flavours with subtle candied ginger, lemon and sage, very faint floral notes.

Aftertaste:

Spicy pine and eucalyptus finish with lingering cracked red pepper corns.
