Product of: Product of Germany Germany

Spiegelei translates from German as 'fried egg' and Eierlikör is the German term for what the Dutch call advocaat. However, packaged in a bottle with a screen-printed fried egg and a cracked egg shell closure, you hardly need an explanation to deduce that Spiegelei Eierlikör is an egg yolk liqueur.

Spiegelei Eierlikör is made by blending egg yolks with neutral alcohol, sugar and vanilla flavouring.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 01/01/2011

Appearance:

Thick cream yellow - so thick that it is hard to tease out of the bottle.

Aroma:

Custard with vanilla and rice pudding.

Taste:

Best described as thick custard with a black pepper kick.

Aftertaste:

Peppery, vanilla creamy finish. Despite appearances, the novelty bottle contains a well-made product.
