This bitter was created to commemorate Admiral Lord Nelson's connections with Norfolk: he was born in Burnham Thorpe in 1758 and learned his sailing skills off the Norfolk coast, so we have the good folk of Norfolk to thank for helping England prevail in the Napoleonic wars.
This bottle-conditioned bitter is brewed with Maris Otter pale malt and crystal malts and hopped with Goldings.
Sampled on 25/03/2012
Clear, dark coppery amber with thin white head.
Burnt butter biscuity malt with dried apple, cut grass hoppyness with orange peel zested oils.
Fabulously balanced fresh zingy grassy hops and maltyness with a touch of yeast and bitter zesty orange.
Malty zesty orange finish.
