Medoyeff was created in 2002 by partners Lee Medoff and Christian Krogstad at their House Spirits Distillery in Portland, Oregon. Previously, Medoff had had 14 years' experience brewing and distilling at McMenamins, while Krogstads brought brewing experience and business acumen.

Medoyeff vodka is distilled from rye and filtered through charcoal and limestone. It is named after Medoff's original Russian family name, which was changed when his grandfather first immigrated to the USA. It is packaged in a tall slender, frosted bottle with a screen-printed, military-inspired capital 'M' on the bottle with a five-pointed red star over it, giving it a slightly Russian appearance.

Surprisingly bitter, cracked black pepper finish.
