Brewed with Maris Otter pale malt and a blend of Pilgrim, Styrian Golding and Fuggles hops, this session strength English ale is this oak conditioned. Launched on St George's Day 2010, its name is inspired by bearskin hat-wearing regiments based in Windsor and it is the first new beer brewed in the town for more than 80 years.
Sampled on 14/04/2012
Clear, coppery amber with no real head to speak of.
Complex hop aromas - grassy ginger and sack of fresh mussels - over subdued maltyness.
The high level of citrusy, pine hops on this best bitter complete with more restrained American IPAs but to a level that is balanced and measured. This is underpinned by a firm malty base.
Lingering slightly metallic pine hops and crusty bread.
