Ceylon (now Ski Lanka) was heavily influenced by British colonialist due to its tea plantations. Naturally these Victorians also had a thirst for beer so in 1881, Sir Samuel Baker set up a brewery in Nuwara Eliya high in the tea plantation hills and started brewing this bottle conditioned stout.


Review and Tasting

Appearance:

(bbd Oct-12) Heavy sediment, pitch black with thin but retentive beige head and heavy lacing.

Aroma:

Molasses, chocolate ice-cream and mocha coffee.

Taste:

Very slightly sweet, malty with dark chocolate, mocha coffee and prune fruit.

Aftertaste:

Milky chocolate mocha coffee.
