Launched in the winter of winter of 1999 and part of Flying Dog’s seasonal offering, K-9 is a strong winter ale brewed November to March using Munich, Chocolate, Crystal, 2-Row Pale malts, Oats and U.S. Saaz and Millennium hops. IBU: 30
K-9’s bottle’s label sports a signature Ralph Steadman illustration of a dog on a snowboard, accompanied by, “If only we could take our dogs skiing. They would chase off snowploughing tourists, stick their heads out of the gondola window and use the snow as their own artistic canvas. But on those days when your dog can’t be there, enjoy one of these dark, sweet, malty ales in his honour.”

(Clear, very dark red-brown (almost opaque) with a one finger beige head which diminishes to a thick ring of foam with moderate lacing.
Burnt toast malty caramel with ripe plum fruit, subtle citrusy grassy hops and HP brown sauce/barbeque sauce spicy notes and stewed fruit.
Roasted malt, slightly sweet dried fruits and berry fruits, coffee and dark chocolate. Hop influence remains subtle.
Malty cacao and espresso coffee.
