Yorkshire’s oldest brewery, going back to 1758, has combined its strong pale ale and organic best ale to create this bitter. Made using hard well water, organic malted barley and organic aroma hops with fermentation famously in Stone Yorkshire Squares.
Sampled on 06/09/2012
(best before Apr-16) Clear, copper-amber with long lasting one finger head with moderate lacing.
Yeasty bread, caramel and lemon zest with faint green apple skin.
Wonderfully rounded, full-bodied and balanced. Biscuity nutty malt with subtle lemon zest freshness over general dried fruitiness.
Buttery toast with dried fruit and mild lingering bitterness.
Some will be delighted by the organic status, others this ale's flavoursome balanced nutty malty character. Few will dislike it.
