Eel River's amber ale is their first beer using certified organic Pacific Gems and Hallertau hops, imported from New Zealand. The California brewers decided to produce their organic amber ale in 1999, after which they made all their products organic becoming the first brewery in America to do so.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 04/12/2012

Appearance:

Cloudy, amber with huge but quickly diminishing beige head leaving little lacing.

Aroma:

Overripe banana, caramel, yeasty (think Marmite) old leather .

Taste:

Banana chew flavours add fruitness to a heavily carbonated and generously malty palate.

Aftertaste:

The stewed fruity malty finish has cider-like apple notes.
