Part of Shepherd Neame’s Classic Collection, this golden ale released in May 2013 was inspired by a recipe found in brewery’s archives originally produced between 1825 and 1855. Originally brewed with 100% pale malt and bittered by East Kent Goldings hops this modern version also has Cascade hops.
Brilliant Ale is presented in a traditional amber bottle embellished with the brewery’s 19th century logo on the label, neck and crown.
Sampled on 05/06/2013
(sample best before April-14) Clear, bright light golden with quickly fading fluffy white head.
Crispy baguette crust, tinned sweetcorn and honey with lightly spiced hop.
Lightly bitter hops, caramel and unripe pears with citrus and cut grass.
Cider-like notes emerge in the lightly metallic hop finish.
