Godet Cognac remains family owned and in 2008, Jean-Jacques Godet, one of the members of the 14th generation completed an expedition to Antarctica, setting a record as being the first small yacht to sail past the 300km mark below the 70th parallel. Antarctica celebrates this achievement.

Godet Antarctica is distilled from wine made with 100% Folle Blanche grapes, a varietal now rarely grown in Cognac. It is aged in very old oak casks for seven years but due to their maturity the casks add little colour to the spirit. What colour is added is then removed by filtration prior to bottling.

Review and Tasting

Sampled on 09/07/2013

Appearance:

Crystal clear.

Aroma:

Very aromatic with butterscotch and caramel (disconcerting from a clear spirit). Subtle chamomile, dried apricot and freshly cut pine.

Taste:

Aggressive white pepper spice but with caramel, vanilla and dried fruit sweetness. Notes of apricot, sultana and more chamomile.

Aftertaste:

Vanilla fudge and white pepper spice.
