O'Hara's is a spiced rum based on 3 year and 5 year old Guyanan rum with 5 year old Trinidadian rum. This blend of rums is flavoured with vanilla, lime, cinnamon, cloves and spices.

The brand story centres around an Irishman called O’Hara who was “Expelled and ostracised from the emerald isle after an argument with a one-legged bookie turned sour, O’Hara and his parrot headed for warmer, safer shores. Finding themselves on the sun-drenched coast of the Caribbean, the two got a mighty taste for the local rum. Morning, noon and night they would gulp the stuff with gusto; quaffing until they were howling and screeching at the breezy night’s bright moon, shrieking in deranged, drunken unison.” Obviously the kind of responsible, discerning drinker you’d want to base a spirits brand on then.

Appearance:

Clear, coppery amber.

Aroma:

Caramel, vanilla, orange zest, peach skin, dried apricot and marzipan-like almond with clove and cinnamon spice.

Taste:

Creamy vanilla and fruity sweetness balanced by powerful cinnamon, nutmeg and clove spice with orange zest, lime zest and currants.

Aftertaste:

Spicy vanilla and fruitcake with lingering lime zest and cinnamon spice.
